DO WE USE COOKIES?

Our own Matomo analytics is configured in cookieless mode. However, UK rules cover more than files literally called cookies; they can also apply to other ways websites store or access information on a device.

The Re:Wired site therefore explains the small amount of local browser storage it uses below.

MATOMO ANALYTICS

We use self-hosted Matomo to produce aggregate statistics about website use, such as page views and interactions with important site features. Matomo is not used to build advertising profiles and is configured with tracking cookies disabled.

Matomo is off by default. Enable analytics only if you want to allow aggregate usage measurement. You can disable it at any time:

Your analytics choice is stored locally as rewired-analytics-consent. The script loads only when that value is granted. A previous opt-out remains respected.

FUNCTIONAL BROWSER STORAGE

We use small amounts of local or session storage for features you ask the website to remember:

• Accessibility/display preferences — remembers choices such as reduced motion, larger text, a calmer background or an easy-read font.
• Analytics opt-out — remembers your choice not to load Matomo analytics.

These preferences are kept on your device and are not sent to Matomo as accessibility or preference data.

THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

Core pages use local images and system fonts. The optional map loads Leaflet from unpkg and tiles from OpenStreetMap only after you choose to load it. The retained exhibit and activity pages also use system fonts.

The main website retrieves opening hours from our own server-side Google Places connector. Those live-data requests do not require your browser to contact Google simply to display the information.

If you actively follow a booking, donation, map, social-media or other external link, you leave the Re:Wired website and the destination service may use its own cookies or similar technologies under its own policies.

WHY THERE ISN'T A LARGE COOKIE BANNER

Optional analytics and the map have enable controls and are not activated automatically. The native 3CX chat widget loads automatically to show its chat bubble. Enabling analytics is remembered on this browser until you change it or clear site data.

If we introduce technology that requires consent before it can operate, we will change the site so that it is not activated until the required choice has been made.

CLEARING YOUR CHOICES

Clear site data in your browser to remove saved choices. Website settings lets you reset display choices or disable analytics. Closing the chat window minimises it but does not unload 3CX or delete messages or existing browser storage.

Live chat

3CX chat loads automatically to display its native bubble. The service may use storage for its conversation and connection features. We do not set a persistent chat consent preference. Closing the window minimises it; clear site data to remove stored browser information. See Privacy & data for how chat messages and contact details are used.
