DO WE USE COOKIES?

Our own Matomo analytics is configured in cookieless mode. However, UK rules cover more than files literally called cookies; they can also apply to other ways websites store or access information on a device.

The Re:Wired site therefore explains the small amount of local browser storage it uses below.

MATOMO ANALYTICS

We use self-hosted Matomo to produce aggregate statistics about website use, such as page views and interactions with important site features. Matomo is not used to build advertising profiles and is configured with tracking cookies disabled.

Analytics is optional from your point of view. You can disable it on this browser here:

When you opt out, the preference is stored locally as rewired-analytics-optout. On later pages, our site checks that preference before loading Matomo. If the opt-out is set, the Matomo tracking script is not loaded.

FUNCTIONAL BROWSER STORAGE

We use small amounts of local or session storage for features you ask the website to remember:

• Accessibility/display preferences — remembers choices such as reduced motion, larger text, a calmer background or an easy-read font.
• Retro loader state — remembers whether the animated intro has already run during the browser session, so it does not repeatedly interrupt navigation.
• Analytics opt-out — remembers your choice not to load Matomo analytics.

These preferences are kept on your device and are not sent to Matomo as accessibility or preference data.

THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

The main website retrieves Re:Wired Wednesday availability from our own server-side Ticket Tailor connector and opening hours from our own server-side Google Places connector. Those live-data requests do not require your browser to contact Ticket Tailor or Google simply to display the information.

If you actively follow a booking, donation, map, social-media or other external link, you leave the Re:Wired website and the destination service may use its own cookies or similar technologies under its own policies.

WHY THERE ISN'T A LARGE COOKIE BANNER

We have designed the site to avoid advertising trackers and to minimise non-essential browser storage. Our analytics runs without first-party tracking cookies, we provide clear information about the technologies we use, and we provide a direct analytics opt-out. Functional storage is used to provide or remember website features rather than for advertising.

If we introduce technology that requires consent before it can operate, we will change the site so that it is not activated until the required choice has been made.

CLEARING YOUR CHOICES

You can remove Re:Wired's locally stored preferences at any time by clearing site data for rewired.org.uk in your browser. You can also use the Display Options panel to reset accessibility choices, or use the analytics control above to change your Matomo preference.
